Homeowners can level their own concrete floors using a self-leveling compound. However, it’s important to consider the amount of unevenness in the floor. Some people use a long spirit level to determine how off-level the floor is.
If the concrete floor is within 5 millimeters out of level, self-leveling concrete can be used to level the surface. There are two primary types of self-leveling concrete available at home improvement stores. One type is a powder that includes a separate bottle of latex liquid, which must be combined to create a compound. The other type is a bag of powder with the latex compound already mixed, which only requires the addition of water.
If this is your first time using self-leveling concrete, we recommend using the second type as it’s easier to work with.
