It’s common for concrete floors in homes or workplaces to become uneven over time and require leveling. Our floor leveling service can solve this problem.
It’s always best to hire a professional to carry out concrete flooring work. Poor workmanship can result in unevenness, and even professionals can find it difficult to transport and place wet and heavy concrete over large areas.
Floors can also become uneven over time due to factors such as cracking, dampness and soil erosion. Whether you’re refinishing an uneven floor or replacing it entirely, it’s important to level the concrete. use of self Levelling concrete
Homeowners can level their own concrete floors using a self-leveling compound. However, it’s important to consider the amount of unevenness in the floor. Some people use a long spirit level to determine how off-level the floor is.
If the concrete floor is within 5 millimeters out of level, self-leveling concrete can be used to level the surface. There are two primary types of self-leveling concrete available at home improvement stores. One type is a powder that includes a separate bottle of latex liquid, which must be combined to create a compound. The other type is a bag of powder with the latex compound already mixed, which only requires the addition of water.
If this is your first time using self-leveling concrete, we recommend using the second type as it’s easier to work with.
Process of levelling concrete
- Clear and Clean the Floor: Remove all furniture, baseboards and appliances from the room and sweep and vacuum the surface to remove dust.
- Fill and Seal Large Cracks: Use a concrete filler and sealant on any large cracks in the floor and allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
- Prime the Surface: Apply primer to the entire surface using a soft-bristle push broom, applying downward pressure to push it into the concrete’s pores. Allow it to cure for several hours until it becomes sticky.
- Prepare the Compound: Mix the compound in small batches until it reaches the proper consistency. Remember that it’s only workable for 15-30 minutes after mixing.
- Allow Compound to Dry: After covering the entire floor with the self-leveling compound, let it dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once dry, any type of flooring can be installed on top.
Benefits of Floor Levelling
Self-leveling concrete is made of polymer-modified cement and doesn’t require a lot of water to set up. It’s used to create smooth, flat surfaces with excellent compressive strength over various surfaces such as concrete, wood, plywood and ceramic. It’s a relatively new flooring method that’s quickly gaining popularity among architects and business owners due to its quick and easy installation.
Concrete floor leveling has several benefits, including reducing damage to the floor and the associated repair costs. It’s a great way to ensure that your floors are structurally sound and any surface unevenness has been addressed.
